Special court to hear Siddaramaiah’s case

1 min read

Mysuru: The complaint of irregularities against former chief minister Siddaramaiah that is being heard at a city court, has hit the headlines again.

Henceforth, the case will be heard at the special court of elected representatives, in Bengaluru. The judge of principal senior civil judge and CJM Yeshwanth Kumar has ordered the case to be transferred to the special court in Bengaluru. The next hearing is scheduled for June 10.

The case is in relation  to the allegation of irregularities related to purchase of land from Sakamma at Hinkal. Siddaramaiah had purchased 10 guntas of land (survey number 70/4A) and the sale deed had been executed in the year 1997. He had also built a house in the later years, but that was found to be in violation of rules, according to a complaint filed by social activist N Gangaraju of the city. The house had been allegedly built on agricultural land, but was sold later in 2003.

It is the same case, where the Lakshmipuram police had filed a ‘B report’ (Final closure report) in November 2018. Gangaraju had filed objections and the court had continued with the hearing.

Prior to that the police had allegedly refused to accept the complaint. This had prompted Gangaraju to file a private complaint report (PCR number 20/18) in the same court. The court had directed the police to file a first information report (FIR) and conduct the investigation.
