Souvenir, gift shop opens at Mysuru railway station

Mysuru: The city of Mysuru being an important tourist destination attracts tens of thousands of tourists from far and wide, with a big chunk using rail services.

Passengers buying gifts of their choice at the newly opened White Artisans souvenirs and gifts shop at the railway station in Mysuru.

With a view to providing the visitors the opportunity to cherish the memories of their visit to the city as also to promote ‘Made In India’ products, railways have permitted White Artisans, a leading brand in Souvenirs and Gift articles to set up a kiosk in the circulating area of the stations.

Known for quality and sheer workmanship, the shop sells over 400 products manufactured in metal and polyresin, the tourists are expected get their money’s worth for the genuine products they buy at affordable price.

This is the second in series of five shops, after the Herbal Beverages and small eats of millet, that are coming up in the circulating area of the station.

The railways, on the other hand, is expected to augment its non-fare revenue to the tune of Rs five lakh per annum through these short term contracts. Agarbathis and rosewood inlay works, both GI-tagged products, alongside popular organic food products, unique to this region, are the other three shops to be opened shortly.

A passenger inaugurated the shop in an apt manner along with Divisional Railway Manager, South Western Railway, Mysuru division Aparna Garg recently, according to a release from R Satish Senior Divisional Operations Manager and Senior PRO.
