2 min read

Mysuru: After battling Covid-19 cases – as many as 90 – Mysuru is now completely Corona-free district. As all those who were in isolation ward have been discharged from the designated hospital.

The first Covid-19 case was registered on March 21 in Mysuru. Later, the cases spiked when an employee from Jubilant Generics Limited, Nanjangud was tested positive. He contracted as many as 76 people – both primary and secondary contacts – making the temple town, an epicentre of the virus.

Interestingly, the source of the virus is still being investigated by the officials as the patient (P-52) neither had a history of travelling abroad nor had come in contact with any other infected. The number of cases – 90 – had pushed the district into Red Zone.

Among the affected, three persons had returned from abroad, 76 were from Jubilant Generics Limited, Nanjangud related cases, 10 from Tablighi event and one SARI case.

It has been 16 days – last Covid-19 case was reported on April 29 – no new Covid-19 case has been reported since then in the district. Now, with zero cases, Mysuru is out of Red Zone.

The district administration had put in effective measures to break the virus chain. From tracing, tracking, testing and treatment, the district administration was able to contain the virus from spreading further.

Corona Warriors led by Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar, SP CB Ryshyanth, City Police Commissioner Chandragupta and MCC Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde were able to free the district from the clutches of Corona virus.
