Solar eclipse! Thousands of students to gaze at sky from Oval Ground

Mysuru: Mysore Science Foundation (MSF) a city based organisation has made arrangements for over 2,500 students to watch solar eclipse from Oval Ground on December 26.

Students from 50 schools irrespective of middle and high school have already enrolled their names.

On the eve of eclipse, MSF opened a counter to sell solar goggles at Vijaya Vittala Vidyashala, where 1,000 goggles were sold in a span pf two hours. Each goggle is priced Rs 20.

MSF Convener Santosh Kumar G B told Mysoorunews.com ” It’s a rare celestial event that is occurring on December 26. It is easy to watch using goggles than the telescopes. In Mysuru, it’s 90 per cent visible, while it can be viewed cent per cent from Kutta in Kodagu”.

He categorically said that “It’s better to watch the eclipse using solar glasses”.

People buying solar goggles from a counter set up by Mysore Science Foundation.

Kumar said the goggles are manufactured in Mysuru only using Mallara Aluminium Foil. It will not harm the eyes”.

Hundreds of teachers have been trained with the help of special kits in this regard.
