1 min read

New Delhi: Former Union Minister and prominent JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav died at a Gurugram’s private hospital on Friday. He was 75. A socialist leader and a three-time Rajya Sabha member, Sharad Yadav was ailing for a long time.

From his student days, he began to participate in political movements and he actively took part in the JP movement. Although he recognised himself with the anti-Congress camp, he later reconciled with it. He served as a minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government in the 90s and also with VP Singh government.
One of the founding members of JD(U), he soon ended ties with the party when Nitish Kumar joined BJP. He had launched his own party Loktantrik Janata Dal in 2018.

Prominent politicians including the President, prime minister, AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and others condoled his demise.
