Following this, prohibitory orders  are imposed under section 144 of CrPC in the Hubli- Dharwad city.

A mob gathered outside the police station demanding action against those behind the social media post.

Though the police tried to convince some of the leaders belonging to a different faith that the action has been already taken and accused has been already arrested in relation to the incident, the mob made a bid to barge into the station.

Suddenly the mob turned violent and started pelting stones on the police station and police vehicles. The police fired tear gas shells and caned the mob, but had a little impact on the mob.

At least 12 police personnel including a police inspector sustained injuries in the incident.

According to Police Commissioner Laburam ” some of the miscreants have been arrested. Adequate police bandobast has been made in the city”.
