Smt Yashodara Dasappa Mahila Ratna award presented

Mysuru: Smt Yashodara Dasappa Mahila Ratna Award was presented to women achievers, as part of International Women’s Day celebration organised by Akhila Karnataka Vokkaligara Sangha, District Women’s unit, at Hotel Kalyani in the city on Friday.
Former Zilla Panchayat Member Lalitha G T Devegowda inaugurated the programme and said, Yashodara Dasappa has made immense contributions to the State. She had taken art in the freedom movement of the country, emerging as one of the leading women leaders of the State. As a MLA and Minister, she has made novel contributions to the State.
Saroja Tulsidasappa, the daughter-in-law of Yashodara Dasappa recalled, being the elder daughter of K H Ramaiah, who was a philanthropist and one of the founders of State Vokkaligara Sangha, Yashodara devised many policies for women. As a Social Welfare Minister Yashodara became reason for the establishment of Women and children welfare Department.
“I am proud of being a daughter-in-law of such a personality and the women of this generation should emulate the principles laid down by Yashodara Dasappa,” said Saroja Tulsidasappa.
C G Gangadhar, President of Akhila Karnataka Vokkaligara Sangha, recalled Yashodara Dasappa as the first woman Minister of the State.
The State Government should name a scheme of Women and Children Welfare Department after Yashodara Dasappa or name any prominent Circle in the city after Yashodara Dasappa, demanded Gangadhar.
Women achievers from various fields were presented Smt Yashodara Dasappa Mahila Ratna Award, by Tarini Chidanand Gowda, daughter of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu.
The recipents of the Award are Rakshita Krishnappa from Sports, Geetha Montadka, acting, former Mayor Modamani and former MUDA Member S Lakshmidevi from politics, Geetha Rukmangada, industrialist, Geetha Puttaswamy, social service, Sujatha Krishna, Kannada activist and Susheela Nanjappa, Cooperative sector.
Latha Ranganath President of Akhila Karnataka Vokkaligara Sangha, District Women’s unit, presided. Former Deputy Mayor Shanthakumari was the Chief guest. Vokkaligara Sangha District President Tejesh Lokesh Gowda, Vanaja Lokesh, Padma, Hemalatha D K, Renuka, Vasantha Srikantaiah, Gayatri Narayan Gowda, Latha Muddappa, Manjula, Nalini, Nagarathna, Jayalakshmi, Muddegowda, Anitha Narayan, Vanaja, Sowbhagya, Shantha Jayaram, Lakshmi Shivaraj, Leelavathi, Sudha, Shilpa, Usha, Prameela, Hemalatha,Geetha, Jyothi, Shobha, Aruna, Sheela, Chaya, Indu, Aruna, Lakshmi, Neha, Bhagyamma, Yashoda, Maya and Uma were present.
