Silk India- 2021 gets a starry start! A perfect place to shop for Varamahalakshmi festival

Mysuru: Women who have a taste for Silk and Sarees now have a place to look for at Silk India-2021 at Nanjaraj Bahaddur Choultry on Vinobha Road in the city. 

On Saturday Roberrt movie fame actress Aishwarya Prasad inaugurated the expo.

Aishwarya said “This is the one place that will surely impress all women especially those who wish to wear sarees of myriad hues and designs. A collection of variety of textiles are under one roof. With Varamahalakshmi festival slated next, it’s the best place to shop for the latest trend,” Aishwarya added.

Silk India organizer Manas explained tbat “The exhibition brings together rural weavers from the different parts of India featuring vast collections of handlooms, dress material and sarees. West Bengal’s famous cotton sarees and many more are available.”

An opulent show of cool cotton handloom products, ethnic and traditional silk, made by master weavers from all over India featuring vast collections of Cotton and Silk handlooms from Karnataka tie & dye dress material and Orissa sarees and many more.

A total of 75  stalls with artisans from 20 states form the expo.

Women shop for sarees of their choice

Amongst the variety of handlooms includes, lewellery – silver, kundan and meenakari, textile, handmade paper, precious and semi-precious stones, gemstone, paintings, leather craft, handcrafted items – wood, ivory, lac, glass, brass, silver and gold and much more.

Besides, handmade jewellery, carpets, durries, Mojaris, Jutis, Marble crafts, Ivory, paintings and textiles of colorful fabrics like Bandhani and Bandhej in gorgeous forms that portray rich culture of Gujarat are also available, he added.

The exhibition is all about the use of traditional handloom skills to create contemporary lifestyle products. The jute-muslin saris make a classic statement with their delicate stripes.

The pallus are embellished with huge jute and gold kairis.

Also part of Saha’s collection are the less expensive Tangails. Gift products are also abound at the exhibition.                             

The expo is open between 10 AM and 9 PM up to August 8. All the Covid safety are measures taken, with mask mandatory, for the visitors, along with thermal scanning and hand sanitiser also arranged at the exhibition.
