Siddaramaiah-74! Young leaders with socialistic approach must cleanse today’s politics, says freedom fighter Puttanna

Mysuru: Freedom fighter T Puttanna on Thursday described former chief minister Siddaramaiah as a committed leader, who is very much inevitable for the politics of today, which is more vitiated.

He was speaking during the 74th birthday celebration of Siddaramaiah organised jointly by Mysuru city and district Congress committee and Karnataka Rajya Siddaramaiah Abhimani Balaga at Indira Congress Bhavan in the city.

Recalling the achievements of Siddaramaiah, Puttanna said  “When the politics is losing its glory and morality, educated and young leaders with a tinge of socialism should try to cleanse politics. Politics riddled with selfish motives is pushing the society towards dark,” added Puttanna who thanked Siddaramaiah for hiking the pension of freedom fighters during his tenure as CM.

Puttanna, 93, who had taken part in several freedom movements was jailed several times.

Former MLA Vasu said “Siddaramaiah’s tenure in CMO is acknowledged by all. With his pro-people concerns, he had endeared himself to all.”

City Congress president R Murthy described the cabinet of Siddaramaiah as secular with due representation to all the communities.

Rural Congress committee president Dr B J Vijaykumar demanded for inclusion of a chapter on life and public life of Siddaramaiah in the text books.

Earlier, food kits were distributed to economically weaker families.

Congress spokespersons H A Venkatesh and M Lakshmana, Hinkal Prakash President of Karnataka Rajya Siddaramaiah Abhimani Balaga were present.
