Mysuru: Safe distance stickers, thermal scanner and sanitiser dispenser- these are the safety measures at Handicrafts Mela at JSS Mysore Urban Haat that began on Friday. The mela will be open till September 27.
JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr C G Betsurmath inaugurated the mela, a first to be organised after a gap of five months of Covid induced lockdown. Artisans from different states are taking part in the exhibition cum sale.
Betsurmath said “We are the first to organise the mela in Mysuru after the relaxation in Covid lockdown norms. We have made wearing of mask mandatory, follow safe distance, besides taking all the safety measures to protect the visitors from Covid”.
Apart from the indigenous artisans mainly from Channapatna, artisans from Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan are also exhibiting their products. It’s one place to connect the makers and buyers. We have taken all the precautions to ensure that people should come and enjoy, besides buying the products at a reasonable price”. he said.
Around 38 stalls are opened and Channapatna Dolls, Pots, handloom products and leather products among others are available in the mela.
Director of JSS Technical cell, Dr C Ranganataiah, Director of Horticulture, JSS Mahavidyapeeth S Shivashankarappa and Coordinator Rakesh Rai were present.
