Hassan: Following the death of sharpshooter Venkatesh in wild elephant attack, his son has held Forest Department reason for the death of his father.

The 67-year-old Venkatesh died after wild elephant Bheema attacked him at Halliyuru in Alur taluk, Hassan district on Thursday.

Venkatesh shot the tranquilliser gun, when the visibly angry elephant charged and attacked him, even though he ran back to a bush and shouted to scare away the elephant.

Venkatesh’s son blamed forest officials at hospital premises for deputing his aged father to dart wild elephant. He also called it negligence of forest department, which didnt train anyone in the particular job.

Why the department didn’t use the technology to tackle wild elephant? asked Venkatesh’s grieving son.

Forest officials and Police were however mum without reacting to his allegations.
