Sharat Chandra Chatterjee Tribute Event

1 min read

Mysuru: On the 148th Birth Anniversary of the renowned literary figure and dedicated freedom fighter, Sharat Chandra Chatterjee, a commemorative event took place at the AIDSO office in Mysuru.

District President Subhash emphasized that Sharat Chandra’s literary works transcended mere artistry; they illuminated the injustices and oppression prevalent in society, portrayed the struggles of ordinary people, and echoed the call for rebellion against societal evils. His writing had a profound impact on the cultural landscape.

Sharat Chandra’s unwavering commitment to high moral values served as a guiding light for the social movement aimed at dismantling outdated norms and fostering new ones in society. Notably, his novel “Patterdabhi” sought to engage the youth in the freedom struggle, despite being banned and burned by the British. This defiance only spurred the youth to study it further and actively participate in the fight for independence.

Sharat Chandra’s literary contributions played a pivotal role in addressing issues such as hunger, poverty, unemployment, and challenging the objectification of women in our nation. Consequently, various programs were organized throughout the district to introduce his literary legacy and life, with the aim of disseminating his transformative ideas far and wide.

The program witnessed the participation of AIDSO office bearers Nitin, Swati, Chandrika, Hema, Anjali, Disha, as well as students Manu, Kumari, Deeksha, Pritam, Raju, and Rakshita.
