New Delhi: ‘Shakuni Mama’ essayed by Gufi Paintal of famed Mahabharat TV show passed away in Mumbai due to age related issues. He was 79.
Those who have grown up watching the 80s Mahabharat TV show – directed by B R Chopra – could never forget Paintal’s acting as Shakuni. A powerhouse of acting, Paintal immortalized the mythological character as limping Shakuni who had all the wicked solutions in the world to help his nephew to be the king and have his kingdom. It is said that he was the casting director at BR Chopra Films and he never thought of acting in that famed serial. However, the director was so impressed with his audition that Paintal was cast as Shakuni in the serial.
