Shakti! Rush of women in KSRTC buses to Gopalaswamy, BR Hills

Gundlupet: Hundreds of women lined up with their aadhaar card to take KSRTC buses to Himavad Gopalaswamy Hill in Gundlupet taluk and Biligiri Ranganatha Swamy Hill in Yalandur taluk on Sunday.
Shakti scheme that was launched by the State government on June 11, offers free travel for women in KSRTC buses. Since then, more number of women travel in KSRTC buses and hundreds of women lined up to catch buses towards the two hills.
The conductors and drivers had a tough time to manage the rush, as the women continued to throng in large numbers vying for space with each other.
As the private vehicles are prohibited at Gopalaswamy Hill, KSRTC runs buses daily from 9.30 am to 4 pm, between Forest Department checkpost at the foothill to the top.
Braving the change in weather that has turned cold due to recent rain, women devotees visited Gopalaswamy Hill making full use of the exclusive privilege given by the government.
