Mysuru: Former minister and BJP leader S A Ramadas has suffered a setback after the Supreme Court vacated his plea to reject a case filed by Premakumari.
Prema Kumari, a former Second Division Assistant with the State government had claimed that former minister Ramadas had secretly married her. She had later filed a case against Ramadas that the latter had cheated her after secretly marrying her at the People’s Representative Court. Ramadas had approached the High Court seeking to vacate the plea but the high court had rejected his appeal. Later, Ramadas had appealed to the Supreme Court where the court too refused to vacate the plea. This is a major setback to former minister who has been contesting Premakumari’s ‘secret marriage’ claims.
Meanwhile, Premakumari has expressed her happiness with the Supreme Court’s decision and said that the time has come to get justice.
In 2013, Premakumari had alleged that former MLA Ramadas had harassed her and even married her ‘secretly’ at her residence in Mysuru. This had caused major embarrassment to Ramadas, who was BJP MLA then from Krishnaraja constituency.
Upset over these allegations, he had even attempted a suicide bid. The CID had taken over the case.
Interestingly, Premakumari had demanded a ticket for Ramadas during the 2023 Assembly election.
