2 min read

Mandya: Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H D Kumaraswamy has submitted a proposal to the Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw for setting up a Training Center for Railway Protection Force (RFP) on the banks of River Kaveri at Krishnarajanagar (K R Nagar).

K R Nagar, though geographically located in Mysuru district, is in the jurisdiction of Mandya Lok Sabha Constituency, represented by Kumaraswamy.

The Railway Department had earlier inspected the site and submitted a supplementary report. The proposed New Training Center at Krishnarajanagar, Mysuru District will help overall development of Mandya and Mysuru districts and also help to increase job opportunities in these two districts.

“I have also attached request letter received from Sa Ra Mahesh, Ex-Minister, Govt. of Karnataka regarding the same,” stated Kumaraswamy.

On 29-08-2024, Mahesh had written to Kumaraswamy, explaining that in connection with above matter, “we had previously submitted a proposal for setting up a training center for the old railway Defence Force training corps on the banks of Kaveri river in Krishnarajanagar which is in the middle of the railway line under the jurisdiction of Mandya Lok Sabha Constituency.”

It is learned that,  in addition to the proposal D V Sadanandagowda, when he was the Railway Minister had responded and took appropriate action and as a result the Railway Department inspected the site and submitted a supplementary report.

But at the same time it has come know that the members of the Lok Sabha of Andhra Pradesh are trying hard to establish a training college for railway protection corps in Penakonda city of that State. Already a training college related to South Central Railway is functioning at Maulana Ali near Secunderabad and South Zone Railway Training center is functioning at Tiruchanapalli, Tamil Nadu.

If South Western Railway training center operates at Krishnarajanagar, it will benefit the youth of Karnataka origin, Mahesh has explained further.
