Separate religion tag for Lingayats: CM Siddaramaiah must propose to Centre again, demands Swamiji

Mandya: Basavagangotri Channabasaveshwara Jnanapeetha, Kumbalgod, Sri Dr Channabasavananda Mahaswamiji demanded Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to submit the proposal on separate religion tag for Lingayats to the Central Government again.
Addressing media persons at Mandya Press Club on Thursday, Swamiji said “During his previous term as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had submitted the proposal on separate religion tag for Lingayats, but the Central Government had sent back the report citing some reasons. The report submitted by Justice Nagamohan Das Committee in this regard should be submitted to the Centre again to fulfil the dream of several crores of people of the community.”
Akhila Bharata Lingayata Samanvaya Samiti will take a delegation to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. If the demand is not met before the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, intensified protest will be staged across the country, Swamiji warned.
The Swamiji also demanded a probe by Central Bureau of investigation (CBI) into the recent barbaric killing of Jain monk Sri Kamakumara Nandi Maharaj of Nandi Parvat Ashram in Belagavi district.
President of Lingayat Mahasabha Trust M S Manjunath Bettahalli, Vice- President of Kayakayogi Cooperative Society K M Shivakumar, Shivalingaiah, Satanur Nandish and Gudigenahalli Aradhya were present at the press meet.
