Senior advocate Ram Jethmalani passes away

New Delhi: Senior advocate Ram Jethmalani has passsed away on September 8. He was 95.

He was unwell from the past two weeks and was on medical support. He leaves behind lawyer son Mahesh Jethmalani, while his daughter Rani had predeceased him. He has another daughter settled in USA.

Jethmalani was earlier associated with BJP and was elected to Lok Sabha twice from Mumbai seat. He was the union minister for law and urban development in Prime Minister A B Vajpayee’s government.

He later quit BJP and contested against Vajpayee in 2004 general elections from Lucknow seat, but failed to win.

Jethmalani was born on on September 14, 1923, went on to become a lawyer at the young age of 18. He had argued many challenging cases including that of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi’s killers in Madras High Court.
