SDMIMD celebrates Alumni Day

Mysuru: It was a day of knowledge and experience sharing coupled with fun and exciting activities at the ‘Alumni Day’ of the SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) campus here near the foothills of Chamundi Hills, recently. It was a synergy meeting between SDMIMD’s new batch of PGDM 2023-25 and its alumni.

Noted columnist, entrepreneur, angel investor, CEO of Aim High and alumnus of the institute, N Ravi Shankar, in his talk on ‘MBA Na Milega Dubara’ said, “Two years later, you will walk into a very complex world, further compounded by AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning). One needs to combine our learnings and skill creatively to thrive in a world like that. We need to operate with confidence. AI can organise and retrieve data and information better than us (human beings), ‘Knowledge’ and ‘Wisdom’ are still in the human domain”.
Earlier, Niranjan Naik, President, Prerana – SDMIMD Alumni Association; and Senior Consultant – Prominent Minds and Bosch, introduced the objective and activities of the association to the new students and called upon to join the online portal to interact with nearly 3000 alumni members spread across the world. He said, “in today’s VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) world Network is Net Worth. Young managers should look beyond social media for networking and start interacting in the physical world.”

Theja Mohan, Founder of Wise Money and alumnus of the institute, in his talk on ‘Opportunities in the Finance Sector’, said, “Today’s financial services sector is embracing talent from across different disciplines to bring in fresh ideas that can disrupt this space. So I wish the best to all the aspirants who want to pursue careers in this sector full of great opportunities. The Indian financial services sector is as bright a star as our Indian economy at this opportune time. MBA students who aspire to take up careers in the financial services sector can look forward to the immense opportunities available in this space if they hone their skill sets to take on the challenging dynamics of this sector.”
There was panel discussion on ‘What students need to prepare themselves for the next 2 years – expectations’ moderated by Niranjan Naik. The panel included N Ravi Shankar, CEO of Aim High Consulting; Theja Mohan, Founder of Wise Money; Pavan Kumar S.H., HR Business Partner, Hitachi Energy India Limited; Anil Ram, Associate Vice President, Ujjivan Small Finance; and Padmashree G.S., Emotional Scientists and Counsellor.
The panel discussion concluded with an interactive and informative question and answer session.
