SDM Women’s College Vice- Principal Prof Sumitra killed in accident in Bengaluru

Mysuru: A faculty oF MMK and SDM Women’s College in the city was killed in a road accident in Bengaluru on Monday wee hours.
Prof G R Sumitra (55) Vice-principal and HoD of Electronics, SDM and MMK Women’s College is the deceased.
Sumitra was travelling in a car to see off her relative at Kempegowda International Airport Limited, Devanahalli, when the tragedy struck at around 1.30 am. The tyres of the car burst, before hitting the divider, it is said.
Sumitra a resident of Gokulam in the city was working with SDM from 1990. She is the daughter of Prof G R Rangaswamaiah, a popular historian who served the University of Mysore.
She is survived by her husband Harish Babu a geologist and daughter who is currently in Europe.
The management of MMK and SDM, staff and colleagues have condoled the death of Sumitra who was popular among her students.
