Schools reopen! Amid rain 58.87 pc students attend classes on day one

Mysuru: Various activities marked the welcome of students back to school in the district on Monday. Around 2,02,862 (58.87 pc) of the students turned up against total 3,98,777 on day one.

Statewide government, government aided, private, unaided schools reopened after summer vacation.

To instil confidence among students, it has been declared as- Kalika Chetarike Varsha ( Learning Recovery Year).

Newly 2,534 students were admitted in class one at Mysuru, while across the district highest number of students attended the schools in Mysuru rural on first day.

Department of Public Instructions had organised various events to welcome students to schools.

Zilla Panchayath CEO BR Poornima along with DDPI Ramachandra Raje Urs greeted the students at Government Primary and High school, Hootagall in the city.

Temple Town Nanjangud was decked up to mark the occasion at schools, as physical education teachers took out a two-wheeler rally. Some students came on bullock cart and 2000 children gathered in one place to make it a mega event.

A special vehicle carrying flex boards highlighting the government schools, education and other benefits were displayed. The vehicle will continue to go around for eight more days at Nanjangud.

Students were gifted dolls

The schools were a festive look with the classrooms decorated with flowers and bunting of types along with colourful balloons.

Arathi was also performed to welcome students. 

Representatives of various NGOs, voluntary organisations and old students association took responsibility of organising the event.

DDPI Ramachandra Raje Urs told Mysoorunews.com “We had planned grand welcome, but rain played a spoilsport. Still 58.87 % students and 2,534 newly admitted children came to schools. Besides all the educational and mid-day meal programmes also started from today”, added Ramachandra Raje Urs.
