Bengaluru: Supreme Court has denied bail to former Member of Parliament, Prajwal Revanna, in a case involving charges of rape and sexual assault.
The two-judge bench comprising Justices Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma, rejected the bail application moved by Prajwal, after Karnataka High Court rejected his bail plea.
Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Revanna, argued that while the allegations are serious, there is no specific accusation of rape in the complaint.
He also suggested that the timing of the complaint may have impacted Revanna’s political career, citing his recent loss in the elections.

The Karnataka High Court had previously rejected Revanna’s bail application in October, prompting this appeal to the Supreme Court, represented by advocate Balaji Srinivasan.
In August, the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing multiple cases against Revanna, submitted a 2,144-page chargesheet to a special court handling cases related to MPs and MLAs. The chargesheet includes allegations of rape by a woman who was employed as a domestic help for Revanna’s family.
