Save Chamundi Hill! Parisara Balaga plans round table meeting on April 3

Mysuru: Parisara Balaga, an initiative of environmental activists has decided to launch Save Chamundi Hill movement against unscientific developments.

Parisara Balaga convener Parashurame Gowda told media persons on Thursday “The ongoing developmental works planned in the interest of tourism will result in a dangerous impact on the ecology at Chamundi hill and whole of Mysuru”.

State government has proposed Ropeway project, while there is another plan to fix railings to the steps utilising central funds, which do not augur well. They aren’t scientifically planned and will threaten the safety of the hill. Even the authorities concerned didn’t take into cognisance the views of Forest department and environmental aspects before planning the projects, he added.

Hence nearly 100 experts and representatives of various organisations have decided to organise a round table meeting at the auditorium of JSS Women’s College, Saraswatipuram on April 3 at 10 AM.

Many environmental experts from different parts of the state like Nagesh Hegde, Leo Saldana will share their views on the day on google meet.

In Mysuru writers S L Bhyrappa, Devanuru Mahadeva, Roopa Hassan, historian Prof N S Rangaraju and Krupakar Will be attending and deliver presentation.

Similarly many experts related to Geology, earth science and various other experts will come together to discuss to save Chamundi Hills, Parashurame Gowda said.

“It is an experimental session at the nascent stage and later we will prepare the second level programmrs and also plan to initiate legal steps to stop the unscientific projects which distract our rich heritage and ecology”, warned Gowda.

Leela Shivakumar said “we have collected 50,000 signatures during the signature campaign. We will submit it with a detailed report of the round table meeting to Prime Minister and Chief Minister shortly”.
