Savarkar Foundation holds state-level Painting competition

Mysuru: Pampapaty, an artist from Ballari won a cash prize of Rs 10,000 at a state-level drawing competition organized by the Savarkar Foundation, Mysuru here on Sunday. Viresh Gadag won the second prize with a cash prize of Rs 7,000 and Basavaraj from Chamarajanagar was adjudged third with a cash prize of Rs 5,000.
Hotelier Sathish S and foundation president Dr Yashaswini S inaugurated the programme.

As many as 75 artistes from various parts of the state took part in the competition.
Consolation prizes were awarded to Vinod, Sanjay, Manish, Bhavya, Tilak Kumar, Tanya, Mallikarjun, Tejaswini, Somashekar and Chandankumar.
Foundation president Dr Yashswini S emphasized on the effectiveness of visual media and observed that freedom fighter Savarkar’s messages could be best understood through visual medium.

Naipunya Education Institution founder Raghu Koutilya – during the valedictory – opined that the visual medium makes any stories easy to understand and remember. The epic scriptures, Ramayana and Mahabharatha are still being remembered by generations and this has been made possible by the visual medium. It’s a powerful yet effective way to communicate, he added. He appreciated Savarkar Foundation’s efforts in inculcating patriotic spirit through Savarkar’s life and messages.
