Sadhvi Kannada daily editor C Maheshwaran passes away

Mysuru: Sadhvi Kannada daily editor C Maheshwaran passed away on Tuesday. He was 63.

Maheshwaran who was ailing for sometime, died of cardiac arrest at his K C Layout residence at the foothill of Chamundi in the city during night hours.

Maheshwaran who was hospitalised for nearly 50 days for leg injury at JSS Hospital was recently discharged from the hospital.

Maheshwaran took over Sadhvi daily in 1994. The newspaper was founded during pre- independence India in 1899 and was once a leading daily in Mysuru region.

Under the banner of Sadhvi Foundation Maheshwaran was also involved in various social activities.

He was a crusader against drugs and narcotics and had organised several awareness programmes in association with the police department.

A prominent man of Jetty community (of  wrestlers), Maheshwaran had also penned a book “Legacy of Jettys ” in English. The 188 page book was a result of 10 years of extensive research as he had chronicled the history of community of wrestlers spread in several states including Karnataka, Gujarat among several others.

Considering his achievements, State government had honoured Maheshwaran with Karnataka Rajyotsava award in the media category in 2020-21.

Maheshwaran is survived by his Wife Mala, son Manjith Mahesh Jetty and daughter-in-law.

Mysuru District Journalist Association president S T Ravikumar, General Secretary M Subramanya, senior Journalists K V Srinivasan (Brother), B S Prabhurajan and Echanur Kumar have condoled the sad demise of Maheshwaran.
