Gujarat: Banas Dairy, one of Asia’s largest milk producers, in Palanpur, Gujarat hosted Sadhguru where he addressed the gathering on the Save Soil movement.
Gujarat Home Minister Shri. Harsh Ramesh Sanghavi and Banas Dairy Plant Chairman Shankarbhai L Chaudhari welcomed Sadhguru to what was the largest Save Soil event till date.

Speaking at the event, Sadhguru reminded that, “A movement like Save Soil has become necessary because that sacred soil which has been so alive, which has built this whole civilization is now depleting to a point where 62% of India’s land is considered degraded.”

Sadhguru commended the people of Gujarat for their successful businesses around the world but warned that no matter how much money we gather, in order to eat we need healthy soil.
Sadhguru drew attention to the concerning reality where today we have created farms with tractors and machines but no plants or animals, without which soil can never be rich. The value of the animal is not just the milk they produce but the animal waste in the form of dung is the most important thing to keep the farm alive.

Expressing concern that animals are considered a problem, he cautioned the people of Gujarat against this attitude and reminded them that in another 10-15 years’ time, “if our animal population goes down by 50%, we are killing the nation. The day we lose our animals on this land, we are murdering the soil.”
Expressing that this event is a historic moment, Banas Dairy’s MD Sangram Singh added, “If we want to keep Mother Earth alive, we all have to support Sadhguru in this mission.” He further said, “I invite you to take with me this pledge that we will all join in this mission of Sadhguru and commit ourselves to keep the land of Banas alive for generations to come. Sadhguru, we the people of Banaskantha, promise that we will revive this mother earth.”

State Home Minister Harshbhai Sanghvi expressed that he has started work on cleaning Tapi river inspired by Sadhguru’s rally for rivers campaign.
Sadhguru who is currently on a 100-day, 30,000-km lone motorcycle journey to Save Soil, through Europe, Central Asia, Middle East reached the Indian west coast city of Jamnagar on May 29 to continue with Journey for Soil.
Gujarat has become the first state to sign MoU with Isha Outreach to Save Soil, in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Shri. Bhupendrabhai Patel and Sadhguru.
Sadhguru will travel across 9 Indian states and will culminate his Journey for Soil in the Cauvery Basin, where the Cauvery Calling project, initiated by Sadhguru, has enabled 1,25,000 farmers to plant 62 million trees to revive soil and river Cauvery.
The primary objective of the Save Soil Movement is to address Soil Extinction, and urge all nations of the world to mandate a minimum of 3-6% organic content in agricultural soils through urgent policy reforms.
In India, the average organic content in agricultural soils is estimated to be 0.68% placing the country at high risk for desertification and soil extinction. Nearly 30% of fertile soils in the country have already become barren and are incapable of yield.
The Save Soil Movement is supported by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN World Food Programme, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Since Sadhguru began his journey, 74 nations around the world have pledged concrete action to save soil in their countries.
