Mysuru: Syed Iqbal one of the sacked trainee workers of AT&S in Nanjangud, is no more.

Aged 33, Syed Iqbal was a diabetic, who died as he couldn’t afford his treatment for the financial crises he was in, after losing his job.

A native of Kollegal, Syed Iqbal was residing at Nanjangud. He is survived by pregnant wife and two children.

Syed Iqbal was one among the 71 trainee workers at AT&S who were sacked after 12 years of service.

Since then, the sacked factory workers along with several organisations including AIUTUC, Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, Swaraj India, Janandolanagala Mahamythri and DSS, are on an indefinite strike demanding justice for the past 87 days.

Syed Iqbal was also a part of it.

AIUTUC District Committee Secretary Chandrashekar Meti who has expressed his condolence over Syed Iqbal’s death, has urged the AT&S authorities to announce relief for his dependents. Besides, the sacked factory workers should be reinstated.

At a time when Covid crises has hit the society, the government and local administrations should interfere to provide justice to factory workers, Meti has demanded.
