Mysuru: Former minister and K R Nagar MLA Sa Ra Mahesh on Wednesday came down heavily upon the district administration accusing the latter of total failure in handling prevailing Covid crises.
Addressing media persons, Mahesh questioned- Is the district administration alive? Poor people are meeting death due to no ventilators. District administration should give all the data about ventilators and needy drugs, said Mahesh.
Citing example of a 36-year-old woman who was admitted to KR Hospital yesterday at 2 PM, with the doctor’s finding saturation level down to 60 and need ventilator support. I requested DHO five times to provide ventilator, but she lost her breath at 3 AM. We arranged ventilators from KR Nagar but no skilled technician was available to fix the essential medical device, he claimed.
The district administration lacks vision and workmanship to provide better health care. District Minister just held meetings and it is not effective to bring efficiency in health infrastructure development, Mahesh stated.
Government should disclose how many staff was recruited and how much medical devices are purchased and installed in the district, Mahesh said.
Government offers Rs 70,000 salary to doctors in K R Nagar, but the lack of medical staff including doctors and nurses has caused a burden. There are only 87 nurses working against 220 posts. It is difficult to face the health crisis.
Hence, we are opening a Covid Care Centre at KR Nagar under the banner of Surakasha Trust. The doctor will be paid a monthly salary of Rs one lakh for six hours duty up to six months, Mahesh said.
Mayor Rukmini Madegowda, T Narsipur MLA C Ashwin Kumar, JDS State spokesperson Ravichandre Gowda, City president K T Chaluvegowda and former ZP member C J Dwarkeesh were present.
