Mysuru: A rumour-monger who spread fake news that five persons of the temple town Nanjangud had tested positive for Covid-19, is now cooling his heels in the police custody. The arrested is identified as Prajwal Kashyap.

A resident of Extension layout in Nanjangud, Prajwal had posted on social media that five persons had tested positive and he had even named those layouts from where those five persons had allegedly tested positive.

Under the banner of ‘Nanjangud Samachara’, Prajwal uploaded false information leaving the residents of these layouts in fear.

It may be recalled here, of 19 persons who returned from Maharashtra, five persons had tested positive. They were shifted to designated Covid hospital. Although, they were residents of Nanjangud, they hadn’t come to Nanjangud.

As his post went viral, workers in these layouts were denied work by the factory, leaving them in despair. Angered residents of these five layouts especially from Shankarapura layout lodged a complaint against Prajwal.

The police have now arrested Prajwal.
