Rs 6,000 crore! Mysuru second largest software exporter

Mysuru: Mysuru has been making significant strides on many fronts and in software too.

Additional Chief Secretary of State IT, BT and ST N V Ramana Reddy has said on August 28 during a session organised on “Mysuru the next innovation hub” as a prelude to “Bengaluru Tech Summit 2019” (BTS), at Hotel Radisson Blu Paza in the city.  

“Among tier-II cities in the State, Mysuru is the second largrst exporter in information technology (IT), touching nearly Rs 6,000 crore. No other State capitals have logged in this much growth”.

The city is poised for further growth in software sector, as the department is planning to open incubation centres in Mysuru. We are coordinating with 36 engineering colleges in the State including four in Mysuru to develop advanced sections like- IOT, big data, data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI). This is to strengthen new age innovation network (NAIN) initiative”, Reddy has said.

The four colleges in Mysuru are- National Institute of Engineering ( NIE), Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), SBRR Mahajana First Grade College  and Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering and Technology ( VVIET).

Prashanth Kumar Mishra, director of department of IT, BT and ST has said “The vision is to transform Karnataka’s economy through innovation, the focus of BTS. The department is expecting a better response from Mysuru at BTS scheduled from November 18 to 20 at Palace Grounds in Bengaluru”.

CFTRI Director Dr KSMS Raggava Rao, Confederation of Indian Industries ( CII), Mysuru chairman Bhaskar Kalale and Sid Mookerji of Silicon Road and Jayaprakash, additional director, STPI were present during the session.
