Rs 27 lakh and 300 gm of gold stolen from house; owner suspects neighbour

Mysuru: A theft of Rs 27 lakh and 300 grams of gold has been reported in Bannur.

Govinda, a resident of Horakeri ward in Bannur has lodged a complaint with Bannur police alleging his neighbour’s involvement in the theft.

According to the complainant, Govinda had managed to save Rs 27 lakh to purchase land as a gift to his nephew, who is getting married. According to Govinda, his neighbour Meenakshamma and her daughter Rathnamma were aware of the cash at the home.

On June 5, Govinda and his family went to Male Mahadeshwara Hills. They returned on June 6 only to find that their house main door was broke open and Rs 27 lakh cash and 300 gm of gold jewellery were missing from the house. Govinda said in the complaint that Meenakshamma and Rathnamma who were staying next to their house had the knowledge of the cash and jewellery at home and they could be involved in the theft. Bannur police are now investigating.
