Rs 25 lakh for each taluk to tackle flood: DC

Mysuru: Rivers are flowing in full spate and the chances of flood cannot be ignored in the case of overflow.

The district administration has released Rs 25 lakh to each seven taluk in the district to take up precautionary measures.

Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar on Thursday said ‘the district administration has taken up precautionary measures to handle the situation if flood erupts in the areas surrounding Kabini dam, Cauvery and Kapila rivers’.

If the situation turns critical, rehabilitation centres will also be opened in H D Kote and Nanjangud taluks.

Bavali in H D Kote taluk that shares borders with Kerala may become the epicentre of trouble again and two boats have been stationed for the purpose. Similarly, two boats are stationed at Nanjangud.

Control rooms have been opened in all the taluk centres.

Police department has been making all necessary arrangements to divert traffic in the event of any alarming situation.
