Row over followers on social media; college girl assaulted by friend, two others

Mysuru: A young woman was allegedly assaulted by three including her friend, over the issue of having highest number of followers on social media in Udayagiri Police limits in the city on October 28.
Shafiya, a second year degree student at Srikanteshwara College in K N Pura is the injured girl. The accused are- Zoya and her friends Faraz and Mohin.
Shafiya was active on instagram and Snapchat for the last two years. She had highest followers, that didn’t go down well with her friend Zoya. This had led to a wordy duel between the two, from the two months, with Zoya demanding Shafiya to delete her social media account.
On October 28, Zoya and two other accused allegedly barged into the house of Shafiya in Rajivnagar and assaulted Shafiya and broke the glasses of showcase in her house. She also acted weird, forcing Shafiya to injure herself in her leg, with the glass shards, to protect herself from the assailants.
Learning about the incident, Udayagiri Police rushed to the spot. Fearing Police, the accused fled from the spot.
Shafiya has lodged a complaint against the three at Udayagiri Police Station.
