1 min read

Mysuru: Vexed over the complaints of not meeting the heritage significance of the railway station, South Western Railway ( SWR), Mysuru division authorities have decided to stop the redevelopment works of the station. The works at the annex site will be stopped for a couple of days, according to a recently communique from the division.

This development comes in the wake of the recent visit of State Tourism and Sericulture Minister Sa Ra Mahesh, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar and members of Heritage Committee.

The railway authorities have also strongly communicated about its stand to the district administration. It has been decided to wait till it’s stand is appreciated and the required clearances be given from the minister as promised during the recent visit.

Mysuru and Kodagu MP Prathap Simha who also visited the site has appreciated the efforts and pace of work.

Railway authorities are also peeved at a section of media for carrying distorted news items alleging violation of Heritage norms.

However railway authorities have reiterated that it has taken great pains to ensure that the heritage element and value of the railway station building is not compromised, said Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, SWR, Mysuru, S G Yatish.
