RIP Bullet Prakash! The news that hit like a ‘bullet’ amid lockdown

2 min read

Bengaluru: For any movie buff, language doesn’t matter, when it comes to content. A flick can be called a wholesome entertainer when it really lives true to the meaning of entertainment.

And, not many are able to deliver entertainment to the fullest, for what is called as a ‘Paisa Vasool’ in film parlance.

Corporator Lokesh Piya pays tribute to actor Bullet Prakash in Mysuru on Monday.

Among those very rare genre of actors was ‘Bullet’ Prakash an ace comedian of sandalwood. Prakash passed away due to multi-organ failure at a hospital in Bengaluru on Monday.

Prakash who was more loved for his plump body and mannerisms underwent a surgery to lose weight a few years ago. It led to several other health complications with many expressing shock over sudden change in Bullet, a fat man to pale, like a withered plant.

Since then his health deteriorated further and the fans missed the chance of seeing their favourite actor back on screen.

With his death, he created a void that will take sometime to fill the gap. He leaves behind his wife and two children.

It was too early and untimely in the case of Prakash, who had turned 44 four days ago on April 02.

Untimely, for the prevailing situation that has enforced lockdown in the country forbidding the gathering of people in large numbers ( more than 10 to 20) for the funeral, due to the fear of Coronavirus. It is too unjust for the actor and his talent who once drew movie buffs, especially front benchers towards theatres in hordes.

He had acted in 325 films sharing screen space with actors like Ravichandran, Upendra, Darshan, Sudeep to name a few. He had also acted in a Tulu movie.

How can one forget the rib tickling combination of Sadhu Kokila and Bullet Prakash, especially in 2004 hit film ‘Kalasipalya’. The film starring Darshan Thoogudeepa and Rakshita ( Rakshita Prem) is an all time hit movie. The comedy track of Sadhu and Bullet still sends the viewers into peels of laughter, whenever the scenes of the movie are aired on TV channels.

Though Kalasipalya saw the remake of comedy scenes from Dhool, Vikram starrer super hit Tamil movie, comedy wise both outstand each other. The combination of comedian Vivek in original was enacted in Kannada by Sadhu and Bullet.

Remember a scene, when heroine broods over being born with zodiac sign cancer and Sadhu who mistakes it for the deadly disease and Bullet smells a chance to swindle his boss. One should watch it again and again and swear you will never stop laughing again and again.

Likewise there are many such comedy scenes that will continue to keep alive Bullet in the heart of his fans. The news of his death really hit like a bullet at the time country is fighting a common enemy in Covid-19.

RIP Bullet Prakash.
