Mysuru: Historian Prof P V Nanjaraja Urs on Thursday hinted at seeking legal recourse over the contentious proposal of renaming a stretch of KRS road in the city as ‘Siddaramaiah Arogya Marga.’

Speaking to media persons after meeting Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner Ashaad-Ur-Rahman Shariff, in a delegation, over the mounting debate on renaming the part of KRS road after Siddaramaiah, Urs, also a relative of erstwhile royal family of Mysuru said, there are records to prove that the KRS road is already named as Princess road.

“I have spoken to District In-charge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa and Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner Ashaad Ur Rahman Shariff. I will speak to CM Siddaramaiah also. I am hopeful that, Siddaramaiah won’t endorse the proposal,” said Urs.

MCC has invited objections if any for the proposal and shall be discussing the issue again, said Urs, the author of ‘Mysooru Noorinnooru Varshagala Hinde’, that has a detailed narration of the history of Yadu Vamsha, that ruled Mysore, now known as Mysuru.

If nothing bears fruit, we shall be forced to move Court against the proposal, warned Urs.

Social activist Snehamayi Krishna, who was also a part of the delegation strongly opposed the proposal to rename KRS road.

Activists Arvind Sharma and Bhanu Mohan were present.
