Remembering Tejaswi with ‘Abhiruchi@26’

Mysuru: If writer K P Poornachandra Tejaswi was alive, he would have turned 81 on September 8.

To pay a perfect ode to the multifaceted personality that he was, Abhiruchi Prakashana a household publisher in Kannada has organised a two-day programme on its 26th anniversary- K P Poornachandra Tejaswi- Hakki Pukka.

The co-organisers are Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha, Hasiru Sene, Nirantara, Swaraj Abhiyan and Manava Mantapa.

It will start with bird watching at Kukkarahalli lake at 8 am. Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha ( KRRS) youth leader Darshan Puttannaiah will inaugurate bird watching. It will be conducted by Shivaprakash and Tanuja.

“Tejaswi Kanda Keeta Prapancha” ( The world of insects as seen by Tejaswi) an exhibition of photographs has been organised at Suchitra Art Gallery at 10 am. It has been organised with the assistance of Dr Revanna, Assistant Professor, Departmentof Entomology, College of Horticulture, Mudigere. Padma Sriram who was an associate of Tejaswi will inaugurate the expo.

Wildlife photographers duo Kripakar- Senani will inaugurate the programme at Kirurangamandira at 10.30 am.

‘Jugari Cross’ a popular work of Tejaswi in Kannada translated into English by writer Ravi Hanj will be released.

‘Mayaloka’ a documentary on Tejaswi will be screened at 11.30 am.

‘Jagada Jwara’ a special lecture by C Yatiraj from Tumakuru Science Centre, has been organised at 12 noon followed by ‘ Tejaswi and Keeta Prapancha’ (Tejaswi and the world of insects) by Dr V V Belawadi at 12.30 pm and ‘ K P Poornachandra Tejaswi: Lohiyavadiya Gandhi Prayoga'( An experiment of Gandhi by Lohia follower) by Dr K Y Narayanan Swamy at 1 pm.

On September 9, talks on various topics centering Tejaswi- Tejaswi and Andaman, Tejaswi and Science, Tejaswi and fishing have been organised from 10.30 am.

‘Kiragurina Gayyaligalu’ and ‘Kubi Mattu Iyala’ the two famous works adapted into silver screen wiill be screened at 1 pm.

Critic Rajendra Chenni will deliver the valedictory address at 3.30 pm.

The day will fold with the staging of the play- Chidambara Rahasya at 7 pm. H S Suresh Babu of Abhiyantararu has directed the play.
