Red Cross at MMK & SDM Women’s College hosts training on first aid, CPR

Mysuru: Red Cross unit of MMK and SDM Women’s College had organised one-day training on first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for youths.
Ravi Mahadev founder of Nele Samsthe and Secretary of Overseas Kannadigaru, UK, inaugurated the programme and addressed the gathering.
Mahadev said “CPR is used during health emergencies when a person falls unconscious, drop in pulse rate and heart beat to revive their breathing condition. It will facilitate flow of blood in brain and heart, ensuring a new lease of life for such persons”.
Manjunath national trainer at district hospital, Mysuru, said “in the current society, first aid is inevitable as it is an elixir to save a man’s life. Several times, first aid turns decisive in saving a life. Everybody should be aware of such methods”.
First aid can be given not just to others in need, but also for ourselves. The daily death rate in the country can also be addressed through first aid. Hence the youngsters should be aware of the methods as they come in handy during snake bite, fire mishap and also natural calamity, he added.
IQAC Convener Prof Sukrutha Y, Red Cross Coordinator Prof Shivabeerappa were present.
