Rama Govinda Puraskar for five eminent achievers

Mysuru: Ramabai Charitable Foundation and Gopinath Shenoy Charitable Trust will be conferring Rama Govinda Puraskar on five eminent personalities on Janyary 5 at Kalamandira at 6 pm. 

Foundation trustee Jagannath Shenoy told media on January 2, “Smt D Ramabai Charitable Foundations and Sri M Gopinath Shenoy Charitable Trust are two such institutions associated with societal cause in education, health and cultural sectors, immensely involving human welfare and development. As an extension of their social endeavours these two institutions have collectively instituted an award named Ramagovinda Puraskara being presented annually since 2016.
This award an yearly event, is preceded by meticulously selecting an institution and individuals working for social development. The awards are presented at an annual function followed by cultural events like Yoga and Mallakamba performance by Jnanasindhu School children.
The State’s popular devotional music singer Vidyabhushana will inaugurate the programme.
Vidyabhushana is known all over the State as a singer of devotional music. He is committed to the cause of devotion and service to the community through Bhakthi Bharathi Prathishtana. A trust for which he is the founder trustee, said Shemoy.
During the press conference noted theatre person Jayaram Patil was also present.

Shivananda Runs Jnanasindhu Residential School for visually challenged students, along with his brother. The visually challenged children are taught yoga and mallakamba and it is Shivanand’s desire to make them self reliant. 
Omkar Math Sharma is known as the “Medicine Baba”. He is a retired blood bank technician from Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh who voluntarily collects unused medicines from people and distributes them to the poor free of cost. He has become a household name, going from house to house collecting medicines that are no longer being used. 
Keremane Shivananda Hegde is the present director of the Idagunji Yakshagana Mela and is taking forward the institution that was started by his grandfather, keremane Shivarama Hegde. All new project, activities and development of the institution are due to his strong vision and determination. 
K R Kamath has been practicing medicine as a general Practioner in Mysuru from 51 years, who is popularly known as Kamath Doctru. 
C R Himamshu the main promoter of Vontikoppal Eight Cross Ganapathi Music festival, has been running it for the last 40 years. He has been responsible in bringing India’s best musicians to Mysuru.
