Mysuru: Following the caving in of a portion of fire station building at Saraswatipuram in the city, MLA L Nagendra has sought a status report of other dilapidated heritage structures in Chamaraja constituency in the city.
Chairing a meeting of officials at Jaladarshini Guest House on Saturday, Nagendra discussed in length about such structures and instructed the officials to inspect and identify those in dangerous condition.
The work on estimation for other heritage buildings like Devaraja Market and Lansdowne building should also be undertaken in the interest of the structures for posterity.
The estimations should be submitted to the department of archaeology, heritage and museums, he told the officials.
Nagendra expressed fear that any ignorance regarding heritage structures may prove costly. Necessary measures should be taken to save lives.
Additional Deputy Commissioner B R Poornima, MUDA Commissioner P S Kantharaj also MCC Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner of MCC Shashikumar and MUDA Superintendent Engineer Suresh Babu participated in the meeting.
