Tumakuru: All India Congress Committee (AICC) former President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday welcomed the decision of the Central government to ban Popular Front of India (PFI) organisation in the country.

Addressing media persons at The Cosmopolitan Club in Turuvekere, Rahul Gandhi said “Congress is against those whoever try to distort peace in the country. We won’t support any such organisations, but will fight against those divisive forces”.

On the possibility of post poll alliance with Janata Dal (Secular) in the State, Rahul Gandhi predicted that the Congress will win on its own comfortably. However, it is the prerogative of the State leaders to take a call on alliance with JD(S), he said.

Taking a dig at BJP,  Rahul said “BJP didn’t fight against british in the country. Vinayak Savarkar was receiving stipend from the British”.

This was the second media briefing of Rahul after the maiden press conference organised in Kerala during the Yatra.

Earlier Rahul Gandhi who arrived in the district as part of Bharat Jodo Yatra by foot, walked along with the leaders like former DCM Dr G Parameshwar, former MLA K N Rajanna among several other local leaders.
