1 min read

New Delhi: All India Congress Committee ( AICC) President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday expressed his strong willingness to resign from his post. As anticipated, Congress Working Committee dissuaded Rahul Gandhi from stepping down.

In a first ever meeting of the CWC in the wake of poor show in the recent Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi had made his intention clear to own moral responsibility and tender his resignation.

However, from his mother and party mentor Sonia Gandhi to leaders like Gulam Nabi Azad, A K Antony, M Mallikarjun Kharge and several others, they had expressed their opposition to Rahul Gandhi’s decision to demit office.

In a communique issued by CWC later, to announce about the resolutions taken in the meeting, it has been stated that ‘CWC unanimously called upon the party president Rahul Gandhi to lead the ideological battle and champion the cause of India’s youth, the farmers, SC/ STs/ OBCs, the minorities, the poor and deprived sections’.
