Mysuru: Puja was performed to first batch of six Dasara elephants at Aranya Bhavan in Ashokapuram on August 26.
The elephants will be leaving for the Palace and to ensure that all goes well, traditonal puja was performed to the elephants, with priest Prahallad Rao performing the rituals.
Elephants Arjuna, Abhimanyu, Vijaya, Varalakshmi, Dhananjaya and Eshwara were decorated for the occasion, with garland and silky clothes.
The elephants had disembarked at Aranya Bhavan, the office complex of the forest department in the city, after starting off their journey from Gajapayana, Veeranahosahalli in Nagarahole national park on August 22.
The elephants are scheduled to be welcomed into the palace at 12 noon during ‘Abhijin’ lagna.
Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar, also the Dasara special officer took part in the rituals.
