Proposal to conduct II PUC exams online! AIDSO wants state government to revoke plans

Merely 25% of students in Karnataka have facilities or resource to avail online education. Among PU students only 20% could attend online classes

Mysuru: Karnataka State Government has proposed to conduct the second PU examinations online. AIDSO Karnataka State Committee vehemently condemns this anti- student proposal of the government.

All India Democratic Students Organization (AIDSO) state secretary Ajay Kamath stated “Several survey reports from reputed organisations show that merely 25% of Students in Karnataka have facilities or resource to avail online education. Among PU students only 20% could attend online classes which prompted the government to conduct classes through Chandana TV channel.”

This being the reality, the proposal of state government will be a severe jolt to poor and rural students of the state. The students are already reeling under financial crisis induced by lockdown and the existing inequality in education system has made higher education a day dream for majority of students in the state.

PU exams decide future for many and especially this year students had prepared meticulously under challenging conditions, and this proposal will only create further distress for the young minds.

Conducting exams during the pandemic is genuinely a challenge. But the way forward is a large scale consultation among student representatives, teachers and educationists for deciding the mode of exams.

In this background AIDSO state committee will be conducting a survey among students and teachers, the result of the survey and concrete suggestions based on opinion of experts on conduction of exams will be submitted to state government soon.
