Princess road to Siddaramaiah: National Human Rights Defence Force of India, Mysuru opposes MCC proposal

1 min read

Mysuru: Even as the controversy over Mysuru City Corporation’s (MCC) proposal to name Princess road in the city linking KRS, after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ignites a fresh debate, here comes a new suggestion.

Hanumanthaiah, President of National Human Rights Defence Force of India, Mysuru, has submitted a memorandum to MCC Commissioner to drop the proposal to name- Siddaramaiah Arogya Marga and name it after the champions of social justice, who espoused equality in the society.

It is known that the Maharaja’s of Mysuru had named the road as Princess road, which should remain as it is. But instead of Siddaramaiah Arogya Marga, it should be named either after Dr B R Ambedkar, Dr Babu Jagjivan Ram, Sir M Visvesvaraya, Rashtrakavi Kuvempu or Adichunchanagiri Mutt Seer.

Hanumanthaiah has condemned the decision of MCC and local MLA, to name a stretch of road from Sri Lakshmi Venkataramana Swamy temple to Hotel Royal Inn junction on KRS main road, in Metagalli, as Siddaramaiah Arogya Marga.

He questioned the contributions of Siddaramaiah, who diverted SCP and TSP funds towards implementing Five Guarantee Schemes.
