Mysuru: Maridevaiah the prime accused in the case of a torchlight rally that has turned controversy after ‘Free Kashmir’ placard surfaced in the protest, is absconding still.

But, the girl in the middle of controversy Nalini Balakumar has appeared before the police for inquiry and has so far answered over 50 questions posed by the investigators at Jayalakshmipuram police station on January 11.

ACP Shivashankar led police men are quizzing her about the intention behind such a slogan and the source, association with any organisation etc., They have also asked her- Where is the placard now?

Amid this, the advocate who was supposed to accompany her to the station did not turn up. Meanwhile some of the students who are also facing inquiry are apprehensive over the statement of Nalini, which may set the course for next level of investigation.

The absconding of Maridevaiah has also added to their woes manifold.

Maridevaiah is the president of University of Mysore Research Scholars Association who had called for protest against JNU violence without obtaining ppermission from the jurisdictional police station.
