Mysuru: Even as the district administration has resolved to demolish and rebuild Devaraja Market and Lansdowne building in the city, scion of erstwhile royal family of Mysuru Pramoda Devi Wadiyar reiterated to take up restoration works in coordination with the government.
Pramoda Devi Wadiyar spoke to media persons after unveiling the bust of 25th and last Maharaja of Mysuru Jaya Chamarajendra Wadiyar atop Chamundi Hill on Friday.

“Nothing is impossible, and restoration is possible. Because Rajendra Vilas Palace (at Chamundi Hill) was also in pathetic condition, but we have been restoring the whole structure” Pramoda Devi added.
Among the members of Heritage Experts Committee too, there were two opinions. While one opinion is for conservation, another is for demolition. It doesn’t hold good as Mysureans share an emotional bond with heritage structures.
“If the government coordinates with us, we are ready to restore the two iconic structures”, said Pramoda Devi Wadiyar who has successfully undertaken the restoration works of Jaganmohan Palace Museum and residential wings of Mysuru Palace under the aegis of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar Foundation.
On Wednesday, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja flagged off the protest rally of traders of afore said heritage structures and took strong exception to the decision of the district administration.
