Pramoda Devi Wadiyar flays sudden installation of Rajendra Mahaswamiji’s statue

Mysuru: Following the installation of the statue of previous pontiff of Suttur Mutt Sri Rajendra Mahaswamiji at Shivarathri Rajendra Circle near JSS Mahavidyapeetha in the city overnight, scion of erstwhile royal family of Mysuru Pramoda Devi Wadiyar has condemned the move.
In a press note to media, Pramoda Devi has stated “I have learnt about placing of a statue surreptitiously during late evening hours, using a crane at Gun house circle Mysore. It is very unfortunate that this kind of high handedness is displayed from an organisation claiming to be a prudent institution. I have supported sentiments of the members of the community who have persistently resisted installation of the statue in the said location”
Pramoda Devi Wadiyar wanted to install the statue of her husband Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, who passed away in December 2013.
This had led to a contention between the royal family and Suttur mutt.
