PPC League: Talakad Ganga, Rani Vijayamahadevi emerge as champions

Mysuru: Talakad Ganga and Rani Vijayamahadevi emerged as the champs in men and women, respectively, in the Psychiatrists Premier Cricket (PPC) League organised by the Department of Psychiatry, Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI), in association with the Indian Psychiatric Society, Karnataka Chapter, which was conducted as part of the two-day Midterm-CME 2025 ‘Psychodermatology—in Clinical Practice’ at Maharaja ground here on Sunday.

In the men’s finals, Talakad Ganga defeated Madakari, while in the women’s finals, Rani Vijayamahadevi defeated Rani Abbakka.

Earlier, as part of recreation for doctors, cricket matches for men and women was inaugurated by Nesara Satish, who led Karnataka U-19 women’s state team.

Five teams in the men’s category and four teams in the women’s category took part in the league, which was played at Maharaja and Coffee Board grounds

Men – Best Batsmen : Dr Sashank (Talakad Ganga); Best Bowler: Dr Nitin Kondapura(Madakari); Best Keeper: Dr Raveesh (Talakad Ganga); Valuable Player: Dr Tejaswi Pruthviraj (Talakad Ganga); Player of the tournament : Dr Sashank (Talakad Ganga).

Women – Best Batswomen – Bindiya (Vijayamahadevi); Best Bowler – Vaibhavi (Rani Abakka) Best Keeper – Sheeba (Vijayamahadevi); Player of the series – Bindiya (Vijayamahadevi).

Two-day CME concludes: The two-day Midterm CME 2025 was officially inaugurated by Dr Dakshayini K R, Dean and Director of MMCRI. The event focused on the topic ‘Psychodermatology—in Clinical Practice’ and aimed at enhancing the clinical skills of practicing doctors.

Dr T S Satyanarayana Rao, President Elect of the Indian Psychiatric Society, was the chief guest at the inauguration.

In his address, he highlighted that the IPS Karnataka Chapter was the only state in the country to receive eight awards from the IPS. He commended the chapter’s ongoing contributions to the field and encouraged them to continue their exemplary work.

Dr Raveesh B N, Organising Chairman, Dr Abhijit R Honagodu, Organising Secretary and Dr Anil Kumar, President Elect, IPS Karnataka Chapter, were also present.

The event successfully merged professional development with sportsmanship, offering doctors an opportunity to unwind while engaging in meaningful academic discourse.
