1 min read

Bengaluru: Even as the common man is feeling the pinch from every corners with the hike in prices of whatever you name, here comes yet another shock.

Beginning April 1, the power tariff is hiked by 35 paisa per unit of electricity as ordered by Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) in its meeting on Monday.

KERC acting chairman H M Manjunath said “the price hike will be applicable to all electricity supply companies (Escoms) which are operating in the state”.

Due to Covid, state government and KERC haddn’t accepted the tariff hike proposal. Now, we have accepted the proposal for hike in power tariff from five companies.

All the five electricity supply companies had submitted a proposal to KERC asking for an average tariff increase of Rs 1.85 per unit of electricity consumed irrespective of domestic and commercial sectors.
